PT, DPT, OCS, CKTP

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Rutgers University

Bachelor of Science in Biology

Ramapo University

Santiago, AKA Dr. Santi, brings BreakingThrough to North County San Diego 8 years of experience in outpatient orthopedic medicine rehabilitation. He specializes in manual therapy for a multitude of diagnoses with emphasis on neck and back pain, chronic pain, joint replacement, and general rehabilitation. He completed his major in biology while at Ramapo College in Mahwah, NJ, and then went on to complete his doctorate in Physical Therapy at Rutgers University in NJ. He is board-certified in orthopedics and certified in Blood Flow Restriction Training, 3D MAPS, and Kinesio tape. He is working on his manual certification through the University of Saint Augustine which is highly successful for a majority of his patients.

Santi had the pleasure and honor of working for our active duty, military retirees, and their family at the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton for 3 years. Being in this environment, he was able to perform procedures such as dry needling which is not in the scope of Physical Therapy in California, yet. However, he developed an extraordinary sensitivity in his hands to treat trigger points and differentiate from other conditions such as irritated soft tissue. It also allowed him to differentiate between a trigger point and other abnormal conditions. It allowed him on one occasion, to tell a patient to seek further medical help because her symptoms and my palpation findings were abnormal. Unfortunately and luckily, the patient was able to be diagnosed by his/her physician with an early stage of breast cancer.

Batman - Dog name

Batman will not be in the office but we are sure you will hear a lot of stories about him. He will make an occasional appearance at a social event. He rescued Tatiana and Santiago on November 23rd, 2015. He was named Batman cause of his pointy ears and because he is a survivor.

He was born in LA and after being hit by a car he relocated to Pacific beach were his foster mom nursed him back to health. After the accident he was left with a fused leg and funny smile. When Tatiana and Santiago met Batman they knew he was the furry friend they needed. Batman brings great joy to everyone he meets he is a happy boy even after all he went through as such a small pup. He is the perfect example of how the right care and compassion can lead to great results. Batman still has some pain when he takes longer walks but luckily he has a personal PT in Dr.Santi.
